Hagrid, Quirrell, and Owls
At the very beginning of this chapter, we have thirteen year old Fred and George repeatedly throwing snowballs at what we now know is Voldemort’s face.
- Do you think Fred and George would have done this if they knew it was Voldemort? Why or why not?
We also learn that the few owls who did make it to Hogwarts in the storm had to be nursed back to health by Hagrid.
- Is this an animal rights issue?
- Why didn’t the postal service just use the Floo Network?
- What are other potential alternatives to using owls?
Hagrid was expelled during his third year at Hogwarts.
- Why is Hagrid so terrible at keeping secrets?
- Is it possible that not getting to go to school, learn, and grow with his peers negatively affected Hagrid? How?
- How did his expulsion affect his emotional and social growth?
